Tornado tears apart homes and families

May 25, 2013

T he small town of Moore, Okla., received the nation’s heartfelt thoughts this week after a monster tornado swept an all-too-familiar path through the Sooner state. A whipping 200-mph wind touched down with only 16 minutes warning, devastating a 1.3-mile wide path for 17 miles. The National Severe Storm Lab says the energy released by the twister generated up to more than 600 times that of the Hiroshima bomb.
