Memorial Day events in the South Sound

MONDAY

Olympia Thunder Run: 9:30 a.m. signup at Northwest Harley-Davidson, 8000 Freedom Lane NE, Lacey, and 11 a.m. departure to the Vietnam Memorial Wall on Capitol Campus. All donations ($10 single, $15 couple) go to the Fisher House.

Capitol Rotunda: Memorial Day ceremony, with music beginning at 10:30 a.m. and a program beginning at 11 a.m., at the Capitol Rotunda.

Memorial Day open house: Forest Funeral Home open house, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 2501 Pacific Ave. SE, Olympia. Light refreshments will be served; American Legion Post No. 94 and Boy Scout Troop 007 will place flags around graves.

Woodlawn Funeral Home: Annual Memorial Day tribute at 4 p.m. at 5930 Mullen Road SE, Lacey. Guest speakers include Gary Alexander, Thurston County auditor, and keynote speaker, retired Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Larry Redelsperger.

Independent Order of Odd Fellows: Memorial Day service at 12:30 p.m. at Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery, 3802 Cleveland Ave. SE, Tumwater. Opening ceremony will be the Marine Corps League Rifle Salute, followed by an invocation and posting of colors, national anthem and more.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord: Memorial Day Observance, 11:30 a.m., Fort Lewis Cemetery.

Tumwater American Legion: Post 166, Memorial Day commemoration, 2 p.m., Mills and Mills Memorial Park, Tumwater.

Pierce County Memorial Day Ceremony: 2 p.m., Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood.

Memorial Day breakfast and program: 8-10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1602 Ruddell Road SE, Lacey. Free and open to the public.
