A man who was arrested during a traffic stop on the roundabout leading to Harrison Avenue on Tuesday morning was placed in custody for allegedly trying to hire a confidential source to murder his estranged wife, according to Tumwater police.

According to Tuwmater police, the suspect offered the source money to murder his estranged wife, Tumwater police Detective Jennifer Kolb said Tuesday. The offer was recorded, Kolb said.

He was arrested during a traffic stop about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The couple was undergoing a contentious divorce, Kolb said.

The arrest caused a brief traffic backup Tuesday.
