You’d appreciate training if needing an evacuation

OlympiaJune 14, 2013

Helicopters fly over my house all the time going to and from the Olympia airport and it doesn’t bother me in the least. I don’t go to bed much before 1 a.m. and I don’t hear them flying at that time.

I spent three tours in Vietnam, the first was with Special Forces and the last two tours I was a crew chief on UH-1 Hueys, OH58s, and OH6s. I have quite a few hours of combat flying.

People today should appreciate the training of the pilots and crew members. I am sure that previous complaints on the helicopters flying too low and making too much noise, if that person had to have a family member be evacuated by a medical helicopter and they were one minute late they would whine about that also and would wonder why they weren’t there sooner.
