Port of Olympia to adjust new light fixtures Monday night

jdodge@theolympian.comJune 30, 2013

Port of Olympia officials will be adjusting new energy-efficient light fixtures Monday night between 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the port’s marine terminal.

The new lighting system is designed to reduce energy use and off-site light trespass that can be a nuisance to port neighbors.

The project also included replacement of creosote-treated light poles with environmentally friendly concrete poles.

Port neighbors could notice some spillage of light onto their properties during the Monday light adjustments. Final adjustment of the lights is set for the night of July 8 or July 9.

The project was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s port security grant program.
