A motorcyclist who was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 101 in the Shelton area Wednesday has been identified.
Sarah L. Noble, 33, of Olympia was pronounced dead at the scene south of Wallace Kneeland Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Washington State Patrol. She was wearing a helmet, police say.
The 24-year-old female driver of the other vehicle, was taken to Mason General Hospital as a precaution, police say. She was wearing a seat belt, police say.
Northbound lanes of State Route 101 were blocked while police investigated. According to police, the accident occurred when the 24-year-old's white 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was southbound on U.S. 101. The driver passed another southbound vehicle in the northbound lane and collided with Noble's yellow 1992 Honda VF750 motorcycle, which was heading northbound.
The cause of the crash and any potential charges are still under investigation, police say.
