FRIDAY & SATURDAY -- Funky town: Get down with SONIC FUNK ORCHESTRA, a 12-piece horn-driven dance band performing this weekend at Little Creek Casino. The four-time winner of Evening Magazines Best of Western Washington, the Sonic Funk Orchestra plays all the top dance party favorites from the 1970s and early 80s. The show starts at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Little Creek Casino Resort, 91 W. state Route 108, Shelton. There is no cover charge.

SATURDAY -- Old school DIY: Olympia Timberland Library is hosting its fifth-annual 24-HOUR ZINE THING zine-making challenge. Participants attempt to create their own 24-page zines in 24 hours or they may choose to collaborate on a zine. The library will host a free workshop from 2-8 p.m. Saturday that can help participants get started, or help them finish off their project. The library is at 313 Eighth Ave. SE, Olympia. Theres still time to catch the classic rock opera JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR produced by Harlequin Productions. It continues through July 27 (it's been extended) at State Theater, 202 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia. With the original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, it has been given a 21st century update by director Linda Whitney. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
