Volunteers sought for waste, recycle stations at Thurston County Fair

July 6, 2013

Volunteers are being sought to assist the Thurston County Solid Waste Division with trash cleanup during the Thurston County Fair, according to a county news release.

Selected volunteers will work three-hour shifts staffing recycling and waste stations throughout the fairgrounds to help attendees separate food scraps, soiled paper, beverage containers and other compostable materials and recyclables during fair week between July 31 and Aug. 4.

Each volunteer receives two free admission tickets and a parking pass for the day of their shift. No experience is necessary. Scout groups, church groups and service organizations are encouraged to invite their members to join, the release said.

To volunteer, go to www.ThurstonSolidWaste.org and lick "Volunteers" or call Brian Stafki at 360-867-2284 or email StafkiB@co.thurston.wa.us.
