Three new roofs have been installed on buildings at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in time for this year's fair goers.
Volunteers spent seven weekends in March and April removing and replacing dilapidated roofs from the Deck building and the Simons and Petersen barns.
The Thurston County Commissioners, Lacey mayor and several fair board members gave special recognition to volunteers during a ribbon cutting ceremony this week.
"What our volunteers accomplished with this construction project is just amazing, and the weather was awful to boot," said Sandra Romero, county commissioner. "They endured pouring rain and miserable weather, but they kept at it and got the work done. I just can't thank them enough."
The Thurston County Fair opens with "One Buck Wednesday" on July 31 where each attendee can get in for a dollar with a non-perishable food donation.
