The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 94-year-old Curtis woman, according to a news release.

The woman was found in the 100 block of Wildwood Road at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday resting against rocks on her property by the Chehalis River.

Family told police the woman was legally blind and liked to walk the river on her property. She was found at the bottom of a steep embankment.

Several members of her family visited Monday evening and left the home by 9 p.m. They were unable to find her when they came back Tuesday morning.

An autopsy has been requested.
