CLAMP vote denied the will of the people

OlympiaAugust 2, 2013

Along with many others in the silent majority living in the greater Olympia area, I was very disappointed in the CLAMP recommendation several years ago to return Capitol Lake to an estuary. To think that some of our elected officials who were on that committee would make such a recommendation without consulting the citizens they were supposed to represent is disturbing.

The crown jewel of downtown Olympia is the northern reflecting pond known as Capitol Lake. It is one of the best places for a nice walk or a scenic drive on Deschutes Parkway, and it must be preserved.

The General Administration has let our community down by failing to dredge and maintain the lake, and it is their responsibility to bring it back to what it was 20 years ago.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
