The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for parts of Western Washington, including Thurston County, that is expected to last through Sunday.
The red flag warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring. The warning takes effect 6 p.m. Friday.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Cascade mountains this afternoon and into the evening, with additional rounds of thunderstorms expected Sunday.
Scattered lightening on dry grass and other fuels can easily start brush fires, the weather service stated.
