Olympia police are investigating an early Thursday morning stabbing in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue downtown.
A person leaving Jake’s about 3 a.m. discovered the stabbing victim on the sidewalk, OPD spokeswoman Laura Wohl said.
The victim had been stabbed in the chest. He was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital, where he is expected to recover from his injuries.
“It was a serious stab wound, but doctors think he’ll be OK,” Wohl said.
Police have not yet been able to interview the stabbing victim because he was in surgery Thursday, she added. He is thought to be a 32-year-old man from Rochester.
Detectives aren’t sure what happened because the man who discovered the stabbing victim did not witness the crime, Wohl said. The motive for the stabbing is unclear, and detectives will continue to investigate, Wohl said.
Anyone with information about what happened or who committed the stabbing is encouraged to call the Olympia Police Department at 360-753-8300, or Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers can always remain anonymous.Jeremy Pawloski: 360-754-5445 email@example.com
