Takes 70 years on lake to understand problem

OlympiaAugust 17, 2013

In reading the articles in The Olympian regarding the so-called invasive plants in Black Lake, I’m wondering how many years those who are so eager to do away with them, have lived at Black Lake? Because if you or your family haven’t lived in the area for at least 70 years, you really don’t know what you are talking about.

And I sincerely hope you won’t vote to have us pay more money than we already pay for our property taxes.

We have been told that Black Lake is going to become a swamp if we don’t take immediate action and that is simply not true. If the sawmill that used to be on the north end of the lake couldn’t ruin the lake, I don’t expect that the beautiful water lilies will do it, either. So, please think twice before voting for more taxes.
