Shelton beating victim critical; police trying to locate suspects

Shelton police are investigating an assault of a man who was found unconscious downtown after 11 p.m. Tuesday night in the area of 1st Street and Railroad Avenue.

Witnesses said a group of men were seen fleeing the area on foot shortly before the man was found unconscious Police conducted a K-9 track, but no suspects were located.

Detectives are following up on leads. Information obtained so far indicates that the victim and the assailants knew each other.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Mason General Hospital, then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is listed in critical condition. Anyone with information that might help detectives locate a suspect is asked to call the Shelton Police Department at 360-426-4441.
