Olympia council approves Cooper Point Road property annex

mbatcheldor@theolympian.comAugust 31, 2013

The Olympia City Council gave preliminary approval Tuesday night to annex 20 acres off Cooper Point Road south of 14th Avenue. The matter now goes to the Thurston County Boundary Review Board, which, if satisfied, will return the matter to the council for final approval.

The city initiated the annexation of the area, which is an “island” of unincorporated county surrounded by the city, to provide city services more efficiently.

Earlier in August, the council gave preliminary approval to annex another island, an 8.5-acre area off Division Street known as Westchester.
