Shelton man dies after motorcycle accident Saturday in Jefferson County

Staff writerSeptember 1, 2013

A Shelton man riding a motorcycle Saturday morning on state Route 101 near Brinnon, Jefferson County, was injured and later died after he crashed into a travel trailer being towed by another vehicle.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

About 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Rickie A. F. Zehner, 53, of Shelton, was northbound on state Route 101 when he "failed to slow for a vehicle turning left" and "then took evasive action going into the southbound lane."

That's when he crashed into a 20-foot travel trailer being towed by a 2007 Nissan Armada.

Zehner later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The woman driving the Nissan also was injured and taken to Jefferson General Hospital. Her two passengers were not hurt.
