Two personal reasons to support gun initiative

LaceySeptember 3, 2013

I support Initiative 594 for two reasons. First, last June, Molly and friends were walking along a road near Lake Stevens on her 15th birthday. A car pulled up near them. It was driven by someone who obviously should not have had a gun. But he did -- and Molly died. It breaks your heart.

The second reason I support 594 is that about the same time Molly was cowardly deprived of the rest of life by gun, the Legislature was sitting on their hands, apparently terrified by the NRA. State Senate Republican Leader Mark Schoesler, state Sen. Rodney Tom and their Republican colleagues courageously blocked any consideration of a modest, common sense gun control bill.

Good grief.
