Motorcyclist struck by lightning on I-5 in Chehalis

A man riding his motorcycle Thursday morning on I-5 in Chehalis was struck by lightening.

A motorcyclist traveling south on Interstate 5 in Chehalis was struck by lightning after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The motorcyclist was able to drive to the shoulder of I-5 after he was struck, WSP Trooper Jason Hicks said. The man was being transported to a local hospital Thursday morning, Hicks added.

WSP Trooper Will Finn said the motorcyclist "seems to be doing well" after the encounter. "It sounds like there was some damage to the helmet," Finn added.

Finn said a motorist who witnessed the motorcyclist being struck by lightning called 911.
