Suspect in Delphi Road burlgaries apprehended on Old Highway 99

Staff writerSeptember 5, 2013

An alert neighbor who noticed a suspicious van in the area of Old Highway 99 Thursday afternoon helped lead deputies to a suspect who may be responsible for as many as eight recent south Thurston County burglaries.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Brady said investigators pulled the van over Thursday at Old Highway 99 and Henderson Boulevard. The suspect is thought to be the same person who was pictured in surveillance footage during a recent burglary on Delphi Road, Brady added.

There has been a recent rash of burglaries on Delphi Road, and the suspect apprehended Thursday may be responsible for all of them, Brady said.

Brady said deputies found stolen firearms in the van that were taken during a burglary in the 14000 block of Old Highway 99 Thursday morning.

A male suspect, the sole occupant of the van, was in the process of being arrested and booked at the Thurston County Jail as of 1 p.m. Thursday, Brady said.

A neighbor in the 14000 block of Old Highway 99 noticed the van and tailed it, Brady said. Sheriff’s deputies pulled the van over, and could see through its window the firearms.

“We feel that he’s responsible for at least eight burglaries,” Brady said. “Probably more than that.”
