1 dead, one injured in rollover crash on SR 507 near Roy

Staff writerSeptember 5, 2013

One man has died and another is being taken to a hospital with critical injuries after a one-car rollover crash just before 6 p.m. on state Route 507 north of Roy, State Patrol trooper Guy Gill said Thursday.

The crash happened at East Gate Road.

Speed was a factor in the crash, Gill said. The 1996 Chevrolet Corvette was heading north on the highway, lost control, left the road and hit a tree, he said.

The man driving the car died at the scene, and his male passenger, the only other person in the car, was critically injured.

Another fatal one-car crash into a tree happened on state Route 8 near McCleary Wednesday night.

"We see this far too often," Gill said. "Excess speed, it causes collisions."

Further details were not immediately available. Check back for updates.
