mwochnick@theolympian.comSeptember 14, 2013

A new blog feature this football season is a weekly high school football player of the week, with votes coming from you -- the readers. Each week, we'll pick the best individual performances from the gridiron and let you decide who the player of the week is.

Here are five nominees after their Week 2 performances. Voting ends at noon Monday.

-- North Thurston quarterback Ryan Mets had a career-high 202 yards passing on 7 of 9 completions and a touchdown in the Rams' 38-16 win over Black Hills.

-- Olympia's Mitch Fettig caught a 7-yard TD pass, had a fumble recovery, and ran a kickoff return 50 yards to set up an eventual Bears touchdown in a 20-6 win over Capital.

-- Tumwater's Logan Schiendelman snagged two interceptions, including one returned for a 75-yard touchdown in the Thunderbirds' 44-0 win over Timberline.

-- W.F. West quarterback Tanner Gueller went 7 of 9 passing for 157 yards and five touchdowns (one rushing) in the Bearcats' 58-24 win over Archbishop Murphy. Gueller did not play in the second half.

-- After going 0-9 in 2012, Centralia is 2-0 through two games, thanks in part to Jovany Almanza's 178 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 58-36 win over Washington.

Week 1 winner: Jacob Rash, Yelm
