Volunteer Opportunities

Sound Learning needs volunteers to help with daily operations of the adult learning agency. Tasks include filing, copying, and answering phones. There is also an ongoing need for tutors and help with special events. Opportunities also include creative projects such as designing window displays. THE CRISIS CLINIC OF THURSTON AND MASON COUNTIES needs volunteers for its Crisis Line and Youth Help Line. After receiving 60 hours of training, volunteers offer free, anonymous, confidential, and nonjudgmental crisis intervention over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For details about the training, call Keylee at 360-586-2888, ext. 103, or log on to crisis-clinic.org. The Crisis Clinic also needs volunteers for its working board.

The American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter needs volunteers to support military service members and military families with emergency communications and casework services. Call 360-352-8575.

Sea Mar community health center needs volunteers to help with administrative duties, maintain its community garden, make displays to help educate patients about their health, and community outreach. Senior Services for South Sound a non-profit organization serving the over 55 populations of Thurston and Mason counties, needs volunteers in the following areas: Meals on Wheels Drivers in Lacey and Olympia, customer service in its Trips & Tours Department, activities assistants in its Lacey and Olympia STARS (adult respite care) Room, and substitute volunteers for the Olympia Center Coffee Shoppe and the Olympia Center Reception Office. Volunteer positions are one day a week for 2-4 hours. If you enjoy big band music and dancing, Senior Services also needs volunteers to host the Olympia Senior Center Big Band Dance from 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays.
