A new blog feature this football season is a weekly high school football player of the week, with votes coming from you -- the readers. Each week, we'll pick the best individual performances from the gridiron and let you decide who the player of the week is.

Here are five nominees after their Week 3 performances. Voting ends at noon Tuesday.

Quarterback Derrick Becker threw a career-high 250 yards on 11 of 13 completions and four touchdowns -- with three TDs going to fellow senior Mitch Fettig -- in Olympia’s 34-7 win over Timberline.

Christian Cummings rushed for 261 yards on 18 carries and scored five touchdowns -- four rushing and a 64-yard punt return for a TD -- in No. 2-ranked Tumwater’s 41-24 win over Inglemoor.

Daniel Montesa’s seven tackles (two tackles for loss), a forced fumble and a pass deflection helped highlighted River Ridge’s defensive efforts in a 39-3 win over Ridgefield.

Tyler Yarber had 201 of his game-high 235 yards rushing in the first half and finished with four TDs in Rochester’s 49-21 win over Rainier to put the Warriors 2-1 through three games for the first time since 2007.

North Thurston’s defense had three-fourth quarter interceptions -- including two from Seth Meredith -- and turned away a potential game-tying 2-point conversion in the final 30 seconds to preserve a 22-20 win over Foss.
