KITSAP COLOR CLASSIC

WHAT: This popular ride, sponsored by the Cascade Bicycle Club, marks the end of the club’s organized ride season. The course is hilly, but there are loops suitable for most riders. Doing both the Hansville and Poulsbo/Port Gamble loops makes for a 57-mile ride that includes 21 miles of uphill on a route that climbs 3,297 feet. If you want to get the big hills out of the way, start early with the 25-mile Hansville Loop.

Where: Start at Edmonds or Kingston.

When: Sunday. Register and/or start between 7:30-10 a.m. in Edmonds and 9-11 a.m. in Kingston. The course closes at 3 p.m.

History: This is the 19th year for this event.

Activities: There will be an all-you-can-eat pancake feed from 7-10 a.m. at the Edmonds starting area.

Getting there: Edmonds, Masonic Lodge: Take Interstate 5 north to Exit 177. Follow state Route 104 west for 5 miles. Turn right onto Dayton Street. The lodge is located between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

Kingston, Kitsap Bank: Take state Route 16 as it turns to state Route 3. Turn right on state Route 305. Turn left on state Route 307 and follow onto state Route 104. The bank is on the corner of Route 104 and Hansville Road.

Cost: $35 to start in Edmonds or $30 in Kingston. The Edmonds start fee includes the ferry ticket.

Of note: Your bib is your ticket to use the ferries and eat at the food stops along the course. Cascade Bicycle Club members get a $5 discount. The Kingston start is the same location as the Kingston food stop.
