Tenino Farmers Market to celebrate with ’Great Pumpkin Contest’

The Chronicle, CentraliaSeptember 27, 2013

The Tenino Farmers Market will end its ninth season Saturday with an annual event, Vendor Appreciation Day, and the Great Pumpkin Contest.

Customers are encouraged to participate in the voting for the Heaviest, Most Creative, Most Authentic and Guess the Weight categories.

This season, the market had 30 vendors at any given time, a larger diversity of products and more demonstration events.

A grant from Timberland Bank allowed the market to reinstate Full Circle Harvest, a senior and low-income nutrition program.

The Tenino Farmers Market is a non-profit organization supported by sponsors, and organized by board members, vendor representatives and volunteers.

President and market manager is Dawna Donohue. The Tenino Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., June through September, at the Tenino Elementary School on the corner of Garfield Avenue and Highway 99.
