Losing faith with the GOP over tantrums in Congress

OlympiaOctober 2, 2013

I have been an independent voter all my life, sometimes voting for Republicans, sometimes for Democrats. However, the Republicans in Congress now have just about turned me off from voting for a Republican ever again. A small cadre of extremists is behaving much like my son and daughter behaved when they were 2 and 3 years old.

The Republican leadership has disgraced itself by failing to lead. They seem more interested in keeping their job than in governing. I am not a huge fan of Obamacare, but I strongly disapprove of the disruptive antics of Republicans trying to throw a monkey wrench into the process of getting it up and running.

The right way to change laws is through the traditional legislative process. Win the presidency, get the votes in Congress. Throwing a legislative tantrum makes you look childish and destructive. If the Republican party continues on this path, I suspect it will self-destruct.

I know for sure that I won’t be voting for any Republicans any time soon if this childish behavior continues.
