A threatened shutdown of state government led Gov. Jay Inslee to cancel his participation in a trade trip earlier this year to France and the Paris Air Show. But now he’s laid plans for another overseas trip – to China.
The Seattle Times reported today that the first-year Democratic governor is scheduled to leave for Tokyo on Nov. 9 then fly to China with stops in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It said his travel costs are covered by the nonprofit Host Fund of Washington and that he is scheduled to speak at a biotech convention in Beijing.
When he dropped out of the Paris trip, Inslee sent U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Everett, in his place.
