A transportation policy expert from the Washington Policy Center is scheduled to speak at 2 p.m. Thursday at the next meeting of the Panorama Republicans. The meeting is in the basement auditorium in the Quinault building at the Lacey retirement community.
Bob Pishue is a transportation policy expert for the right-of-center think tank. He was invited to talk about state transportation issues, including whether Gov. Jay Inslee could call the Legislature into special session later this year to raise the gas tax for transportation improvements.
The Republican-steered Senate Majority Coalition blocked action on a tax package during regular and special sessions held earlier this year, but Senate lawmakers have been holding a series of public forums on transportation funding around the state in recent weeks.
Dale Vincent, leader of the Panorama group, said Pishue will also talk about transit funding and threatened cutbacks by Seattle and Pierce County transit agencies.
The meeting is open to the public regardless of political affiliation. For details, call Vincent at 360-438-5561.
