Lacey and Eastern Washington University angler Nick Barr lost on the second day to the eventual champion during last weekend’s Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket.
Eight collegiate anglers qualified for the event, with the winner earning a spot in the 2014 Bassmaster Classic. The tournament was held in a bracket format, much like the NCAA basketball tournament.
Barr won his opening day match, landing three bass that weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces. That was enough to best Tom Frink of Auburn University, who caught a five-fish limit that weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
On day two, Barr went up against Jordan Lee of Auburn. Lee would win the match with five fish weighing 10 pounds, 1 ounce. Barr would land just three fish for a total of 5 pounds, 1 ounces. Lee would go on to win the event and the Bassmaster Classic entry.
The three-day event was held on the Grand River in Muskegon, Mich.Compiled by Jeffrey P. Mayor, email@example.com
