2 Shelton residents dead in crash with truck driven by Olympia man

Staff writerOctober 8, 2013

Troopers said two people from Shelton died when a Toyota Camry and a service truck driven by an Olympia man crashed Tuesday on state Route 3 north of Shelton.

Jean Chapman Jr., 70, died at the scene, as did a woman who shared his last name, 68-year-old Marilyn, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened about 10 a.m., as the blue 2009 Toyota headed west on Pickering Road and pulled out to turn onto south SR 3, when it was hit by the green 1997 international service truck, troopers said.

The 60-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.

All three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.

What caused the wreck was still being investigated.
