Though Jeff Davis’ comments about taking back the Farmers Market site for cargo storage, has been dismissed as a joke or simply a statement taken out of context, which it is neither, there is no mistaking his stated intention to take back the market’s overflow parking lot behind Batdorf & Bronson for the building of a union hall, while ignoring the very real negative impact such a move would inflict on the market.
The sustainable economic development that results because of the Farmers Market is at least as valuable to our community as the export of raw logs. The market’s well-being should not be sacrificed to serve this pet project, while viable alternative locations exist for the union hall.
Along with over 60 of my fellow market vendors, we urge our customers and supporters to vote for Sue Gunn. We want someone we know will protect and support our efforts and that’s Sue.
