A 12-year-old girl said two men tried to coax her into a blue sports utility vehicle as she walked to a school bus stop between 8:20 and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday along Sarazan Street in the Chambers Prairie area of Lacey, according to an announcement by North Thurston Public Schools.

The girl’s parents filed a report with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the school district, the girl was approached by two black men in a smaller SUV, possibly a GMC model. They asked her for directions, and asked if she'd get in the vehicle to show them the location.

“As she ran from the vehicle towards the bus stop, the SUV appeared to turn around and the males appeared to watch her,” stated the school district announcement. “The parents of the girl reported the incident yesterday (Wednesday) around 5:40 p.m.”

School officials encouraged parents to talk with their children about being safe and walking with a buddy.
