Knife-wielding man robs Day and Night Grocery in Olympia

Olympia police are seeking a suspect who robbed the Day and Night Grocery on Harrison Avenue at knifepoint early Monday morning.

Police responded to the burglary call at the Day and Night Grocery in the 2000 block of Harrison Ave. about 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, the clerk said he was sitting on the sidewalk outside the store's entrance when the suspect entered the store. The clerk said the suspect looked around, then pulled a bandana over his face and took several packs of cigarettes from behind the counter.

The clerk said he tried to stop the man, but he brandished a knife. The clerk said the suspect then fled east on Black Lake Boulevard.

Police were unable to locate the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic man, about 20 to 25-years-old, with a light complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and shoes, and used a black and white bandana to cover his face.
