Missing Mason County hunter found deceased

Mason County sheriff's deputies found a missing hunter deceased Tuesday after a friend reported to police that he hadn't met up with him as planned.

Owen Vrooman, a Mason County resident was dropped off by a friend Monday around 9 a.m. in the Mason Lake area. He and the friend had made plans to meet in the Deer Creek area around 6:30 p.m. to hunt. Vrooman never showed up.

The sheriff's office was called around 8:14 p.m. and a search and rescue mission involving three counties, along with a K-9, was started.  

Vrooman was found deceased at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy has been planned for Thursday.
