Alexander has impressive list of bi-partisan support

LaceyOctober 25, 2013

A recent letter to the editor noted that former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander and County Auditor Gary Alexander are two different people. The writer did not point out, however, that Justice Alexander has not only endorsed Gary Alexander but also serves on his steering committee. So, if you respect and trust Justice Gerry Alexander’s judgment, you will join him in voting for Gary Alexander for Thurston County auditor.

All of Alexander’s endorsements are impressive. Unlike his opponent’s narrowly partisan support, Alexander has the endorsement of Democrats, Republicans and independents. They include Democrats such as former Tumwater Mayor Ralph Osgood and former Tumwater City Council member Judy Hofling, and prominent nonpartisan office-holders such as Lacey Mayor Virgil Clarkson and the mayors of Yelm, Rainier and Bucoda.

It says a lot that former Thurston County Auditors Kim Wyman and Sam Reed are not only endorsing but are also helping on his steering committee.

Finally, Gary Alexander has the endorsement of the Washington State Council of County and City Employees, AFSCME, AFL-CIO. That is the union for the Thurston County Auditor’s Office and the Pierce County Auditor’s Office — where Alexander’s opponent is a mid-level supervisor.
