Loud motorcycles damage health, sense of well-being

LaceyOctober 26, 2013

I was most pleased to finally see an editorial in favor of statewide noise limits for motorcycles. It is long past time for such a move.

This summer a peaceful vacation was made miserable by the continual noise of passing bikers with altered muffler systems. Thoughtless motorcyclists in our neighborhoods interrupt our lives. I dread the Christmas Toy Run each year.

Loud noise is a stressor and damages both health and psychological well-being. Considerate bikers enjoy their sport without making people miserable. Unfortunately, it will take legislation and enforcement to curtail the noise made by thoughtless riders.
