Engle seeks transparency in Fire District 8 race

OlympiaOctober 30, 2013

In response to Mark Lovrien’s letter of Oct. 28 about Fire District 8’s candidate for commissioner: Tom Engle does not live next to the site that was proposed for the new station.

Engle is running for commissioner on a platform of leadership, transparency and community involvement in the business of Fire District 8. This includes all district business, not just the controversial efforts by the district to construct a new fire station at 78th and Hendershot.

The decision of a task force of 40 invitees and volunteers, which included Lovrien, cannot contravene the wishes of 64.6 percent of the 3,449 (over 2,200 of them are District 8 residents) voters who turned down a bond levy for its construction in the 2011 election.
