Federal debt control remains necessary

TumwaterNovember 4, 2013

Every day the Republicans were criticized for the federal government “shutdown.” The basic difference between President Obama and the Republicans is seldom mentioned. The Republicans want smaller government and debt reduction. President Obama wants higher debt limits and more spending. The debt is approaching $17 trillion.

At an interest rate of 1 percent a year, the interest would be $170 billion per year.

The Congressional Budget Office recently announced that our present rate of spending is unsustainable. Financial experts agree that entitlements must be reduced.

President Obama never seriously talks about debt reduction. He continues to have a “progressive” agenda of taxing business and redistributing the money. Sarah Palin was correct when, during the 2008 campaign, she said Obama doesn’t have the administrative experience to be president.
