Girls soccer: Timberline, league champs for first time since '91, open district play Thursday

The Timberline Blazers, winning their first league title since 1991 after a 11-1 league record, is the 3A Narrows League's No. 1 seed for the 3A West Central/Southwest bi-district tournament, which begins Thursday. 

The Blazers (11-2-2), who snapped a 13-game unbeaten streak Monday after a 2-1 loss to Wilson Monday, face the winner of Tuesday's Hazen/Auburn Mountainview game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sumner's Sunset Chev Stadium in a winner-to-state game. Win, and the Blazers play in the bi-district title match at noon Saturday at Mount Tahoma. Lose, and they play in a winner-to-state, loser-out game at noon Saturday at Highline Memorial Stadium. 

Also playing in the 3A bi-district tournament is North Thurston as the third seed. The Rams (7-7-2) play the winner of Tuesday's Kelso/Prairie game in a loser-out contest at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Stadium Bowl. 

Class 4A

Olympia (11-3-2), runners-up of the 4A Narrows, face Thomas Jefferson (8-3-5) in a loser-out 4A West Central/Soutwest bi-district game at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mount Tahoma. Win, and the Bears the winner of Thursday's Skyview/Puyallup game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel High School in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.
