And the totals are in: The 2013 Saint Martin’s Gala raised $960,000, officials at the Lacey private university announced Wednesday. It’s the highest amount raised in the gala’s eight-year history.

The event Saturday featured a five-course dinner, an auction and a culinary demonstration by celebrity chef Michael Symon, host of ABC’s talk show, “The Chew.”

Auction items included a trip to Rome with a private, after-hours tour of the Sistine Chapel and Vatican galleries that brought in $16,000 and an authentic Italian picnic for 30 people that raised $24,000.

The event was chaired by Armandino and Marilyn Batali and Rick and Pam Panowicz.

The 2014 gala is scheduled for Nov. 1. Learn more at
