Eliminating tax breaks a difficult choice for lawmakers (from Crosscut)

A legislative committee declined to eliminate a tax break for dentists Wednesday in move that may foreshadow how the Legislature will deal with other tax loopholes come January. Crosscut reports.

While the tax break under consideration is a small issue in and of itself, lawmakers' hesitation to eliminate it illustrates how difficult it is to eliminate tax breaks after they are granted, writes Crosscut's John Stang,

"The bottom line: Tax breaks are easy to create and difficult to eliminate," Stang writes.
