The 10th annual Salmon Saturday will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Swan Creek Park.
Visitors will have the chance to watch chum salmon make their way upstream in an urban setting. There will be a chance to learn about the salmon, how to protect them, and other activities, including guided tours, children’s activities, and information on salmon-friendly home and gardening activities.
New this year is a watershed exhibit at which visitors will have a chance to test water from the creek, and see how its current conditions impact the survival of salmon in an activity provided by Citizen’s For A Healthy Bay.
The event is hosted by Friends of Swan Creek Watershed, Tacoma EnviroChallenger Program, Tacoma Nature Center environmental educators and other community partners.
The Canyon entrance and parking lot for the park are at 2820 Pioneer Way E. If you reach Waller Road, you have passed the park.
