Thurston County set to lift emergency road restriction

Staff writerDecember 15, 2013

Thurston County is set to lift its emergency load restriction on all unincorporated roads at 12:01 a.m. Monday.

The decision to lift the restriction was based on field observations and weather predictions, according to a county news release.

The restriction was announced last week when the area began to thaw after weeks of freezing temperatures.

"The conditions created the threat of severe damage to county roads from heavy trucks as they put pressure on thawing pavement with frozen roadbeds beneath," the county said in its news release.
