A 19-year-old Olympia woman was killed Monday morning around 3:50 a.m. after being hit by a semi-truck while crossing a northbound lane of State Route 101 about a mile south of Shelton, according to a news release from Washington State Patrol.

The woman has been identified as Rebecca E. Martinson, of Olympia.

The driver of the semi was Lawrence Zepp, 55, of Elma. Zepp was not injured.

Trooper Russ Winger says the woman had been reported for driving erratically by a driver who was following her. Winger says a trooper was on the way when the woman ran off the road, disabling her car.

Winger says the man who followed her tried to get her to stay at the car, but she wandered onto the highway into the path of the truck. The driver couldn't stop. She was killed at the scene.

The northbound lanes of state Route 101 were closed for about three hours.

The news release stated that no charges are pending.
