Comic strips included in our free speech right

Regarding Anthony Lazzaro’s letter to the editor, “Doonesbury cartoon is offensive:”

While the content might have offended you, oh well, we live in America and you have the choice to not read the cartoon. We have free speech, and The Olympian newspaper has a obligation to adhere to that.

You further go on to say: “Your family paper.” I pay for the paper like anyone else, so it is not your paper. You don’t like, don’t buy. I do not want a communist-type censor that tells the media what they must print.

We lose enough freedom every day.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
