Sweet Charley B’s, a cupcake business that was launched in memory of a little girl named Charley Beers, is set to close Saturday, about 18 months after it opened across from the Olympia Farmers Market.

Owner Amanda Beers, Charley’s mother, could not immediately be reached Thursday, but information about the closure has been posted on Sweet Charley B’s Facebook page.

The post reads:

“My life, my family’s lives and lives of all of my employees have been greatly impacted by all that is required to run a small business. There comes a time when the sacrifice outweighs the success. My kids are still very young and the amount of time and effort dedicated to run Sweet Charley B’s has greatly impacted our family life. It is with much gratitude, but also a heavy heart, that we announce that Sweet Charley B’s will be closing its doors on Saturday, December 21st, 2013.”

The post goes on to say that Miss Moffett’s Mystical Cupcakes, which has been operating out of downtown Olympia’s Paprika Cafe, will fill the space previously occupied by Sweet Charley B’s. Miss Moffett owner Rachel Young said Thursday that her business will open in that spot Jan. 2, and will have hours similar to Sweet Charley B’s.

Young opened her business in March. She works alongside her mother and brother, and may offer jobs to employees from Sweet Charley B’s.

Sweet Charley B’s opened in June 2012 in memory of Charley Beers, who died when she was about 6 years old from a bacterial infection. Amanda Beers also has a son, Sam, and a daughter, Georgie.

The business featured a photo of Charley Beers.

The Facebook post has received more than 100 comments. Among them:

 • “Your sweet shop will be missed, but you can never go wrong putting your precious family first,” said Raquel Carpenter of Olympia. “Best to the Beers fam!”

 • “We appreciate all that you have offered us in tasty cupcake options and memory making,” Julie McInnis of Tumwater said.

 • “Wishing you the best for yourself and your family.”

 • “You will be greatly missed,” said Marilyn Martin Hansen of Olympia.

Sweet Charley B’s is at 111 Market Street NE, Suite 107, Olympia. The business will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
