Rapes in the military are occurring every day

RochesterDecember 20, 2013

“Rape not tolerated in the military,” says letter writer Kevin Bolke. Well, your saying doesn’t make it so. The Pentagon says it happens all the time.

The Pentagon says there are about 70 rapes per day, averaging three per hour, throughout all the branches of the military, with the Air Force slightly ahead in the ratings. And it’s been going on for decades.

The victims say that if they report it and make a big stink, they won’t be promoted. Once again, blame the victim and make the victim pay for the crime committed against them. The military has been sweeping this problem under the carpet for many, many years.

The military has proved repeatedly that it isn’t capable of policing itself. Let someone else do it — preferably someone that has come guts and a conscience. If there’s anyone left in America with those two qualities.
