Former lifeguard awaits trial on rape charge

December 28, 2013

A 19-year-old former Great Wolf Lodge lifeguard accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in May is still awaiting trial on third-degree child rape.

Alex E. Salazar’s trial is set for March 12. He is out of custody on bail. His trial has been delayed three times.

The 14-year-old girl was staying at the hotel with her family and told police she had befriended the lifeguard at the pool and voluntarily met with him after his shift May 14, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. About midnight, she got into his car, and they left.

Inside the car, he allegedly raped the girl. Afterward, he took the girl back to the hotel, and she told her family what happened. The teen told police she did not consent to the sex.
