Tom McCabe, back as Freedom Foundation leader, speaks Thursday in Lacey

OlympianDecember 31, 2013

Tom McCabe, the new leader of a right-of-center Olympia think tank, is the featured speaker at the Panorama Republicans’ regular monthly meeting on Thursday in Lacey.

McCabe ran the Building Industry Association of Washington for many years, greatly expanding its membership and political clout over 21 years until his resignation in December 2010. He is expected to talk about his new role.

McCabe was named recently as chief executive officer at Freedom Foundation, a think tank founded in 1991 by a former state lawmaker, Bob Williams. It advocates for limited government.

The GOP group meets at 2 p.m. in the Quinault Auditorium, located in the lower level of the Quinault apartment building at the Lacey retirement community. Meetings are open to the public. For details, contact Dale Vincent, chairman of the Panorama Republicans, at 360-438-5561.

Best known for his role at BIAW as executive vice president, McCabe previously served as director of congressional affairs for the Veterans Administration under President Reagan.
